Streamlined category view lets guests tap a category and land directly on its articles, skipping the subcategory screen. Fewer taps, faster answers.
You turn it on per category, so you can mix and match based on how much content each section has. New categories start with the full 3-level structure (category → subcategory → article).
How it works
You have two navigation options per category:
Expanded view (3 levels): guests tap the category, see its subcategories, then tap a subcategory to see the articles. Best for categories with a lot of content spread across several subcategories. This is how new categories start.
Streamlined view (2 levels): guests tap the category and land directly on all its articles. Subcategories are hidden from navigation. You can also turn on Subcategories as filters to show them as a horizontal filter bar above the articles, so guests can still narrow down by topic without an extra screen.
Example: your "Restaurant recommendations" category has subcategories like Casual dining, Fine dining, and Vegan & vegetarian. With Streamlined view and filters on, guests land on all restaurants and tap a filter to narrow down.
When to use each option
Your situation | Recommended option |
|---|---|
A category with a few articles, where subcategories feel like overhead | Streamlined view |
You want subcategories as a lighter filter, not a navigation step | Streamlined view + Subcategories as filters |
A category with many subcategories and lots of articles in each | Expanded view (the starting setting) |
How to set it up
Go to Guest Experience → Knowledge Base.
Click the three dots (⋮) next to the category and select Edit.
Tick Streamlined category view. Untick it to go back to Expanded view.
Optionally, tick Subcategories as filters.
Click Save changes. The change applies right away for all guests.
A few things to keep in mind
Both views change guest navigation only. Your content structure in the dashboard stays the same.
If you turn on Subcategories as filters and a subcategory has no articles, it doesn't show as a filter, the same automatic clean-up as the rest of your guidebook.
The setting belongs to the category, not the property. If you share categories across properties, navigation behaves the same in all of them.
AI data source only categories don't have this option, since guests never browse them.
