Tags in SmoothStay help you stay organized, especially when managing multiple properties, destinations, or regional content. Whether you're customizing guidebook articles by location or grouping similar properties, tags make it easy to scale and structure your content.
This guide will show you how to:
Create and manage tags
Apply tags to a property
Tag individual guidebook articles
Where to manage tags
Create, view, and manage tags in Settings › Tags.
To access your tags
Click Settings in the sidebar.
Select the Tags tab.
You'll see a list of all existing tags, each with its own color.
To create a new tag, click Add tag and enter your label (e.g., Tulum, Foggy Bottom, Mountain Cabins).
Each tag is color-coded for quick recognition throughout the platform.
Applying tags to a property
Tags can be assigned to properties to group them by region, property type, or any other organizational need.
To tag a property
Go to Properties and open the property.
Click Tags under the Properties heading.
Tick one or more tags.
These tags will determine which articles are shown in that property’s guidebook (more on that below).
Tagging guidebook articles
Tags also control which articles appear in which guidebooks, based on the property’s assigned tags.
To apply a tag to an article
Go to Guest Experience → Knowledge Base and open the article you want to edit.
In the side panel, find Where it shows.
Under the Tag dropdown, choose the tag that matches the intended audience (e.g., Riviera Maya).
Only properties that share the same tag will show the article in their guidebook. This makes content targeting easy and efficient.
Why tags matter
Reuse content across multiple guidebooks without duplication.
Keep your guest experience highly relevant by showing only region-specific info.
Simplify your content strategy as you scale up with more properties.
Example workflow
Create a tag called Playa del Carmen.
Assign that tag to all properties located in Playa del Carmen.
Create an article titled “Best Beach Bars”, and assign it the Playa del Carmen tag.
Result: Only guests staying at properties with that tag will see that article in their guidebook.
