Guidebook home widgets

Widgets are the blocks on your guidebook home: the welcome header, the reservation card, Wi-Fi, quick answers, your host profile and more. You choose which ones guests see, in what order, and, on reservation links, at which moment of the stay.

Widgets are new and marked In beta. Everything works, but tell us at hello@smoothstay.io if something looks off.

Where to find them

  • Default settings for every property: in the sidebar, go to Guest Experience → Widgets.

  • One property: open the property and click the Widgets row under Guidebook. Each icon shows whether that widget uses your default or custom settings for the property.

Click any widget to open its settings. Changes save as you go. Click Preview to see the real guidebook as a guest would, on a general, public or reservation link, at any stage of the stay.

How the Widgets page is organized

  • Always in place: widgets that keep their spot, like the welcome header at the top and the reservation card right below it.

  • Home order: the rest of your home. Click Reorder and drag widgets into the order you want, then click Done. Every property uses this order.

A green dot means the widget is on; a gray dot means it's off. Widgets a guest can't use, for example because of their booking channel or missing details, are skipped with no gap.

Widget

What guests see

Welcome header

The photo and welcome text at the top of every guidebook. On reservation links it can greet guests by first name, with a greeting that changes with the stay. It's always on.

Reservation card

The guest's name, stay dates and, if you turn it on, the door code. Reservation links only. The door code shows only while restricted content is open, until checkout.

Guest registration

A form guests fill in before they open the guidebook. Off, Optional or Required. See Guest registration.

Passcode

A 4-digit code guests enter before the guidebook opens. You choose whether to ask for it on general and public links, reservation links, or both, and how many days a device stays unlocked.

Guest feedback popup

A short question at the moments you choose, like "Is everything perfect?" during the stay, plus a review request after it. A low score or a comment emails you.

Quick answers

Tiles for the 2 to 4 articles guests ask about most, like Wi-Fi, parking or check-in.

Check-in and issues

Guests report a problem straight from the guidebook, and you get an email. You can also ask them to confirm when they've checked in.

Checklist

A short list guests tick off, made from the steps in one of your articles, like your checkout steps.

Wi-Fi

The network name and password with copy buttons, and an optional QR code to join. It fills in from each property's Wi-Fi details.

Weather

The forecast at each property's address. It needs the property's map location.

About your hosts

Your photo, name and bio from your host profile (My account › Host profile).

Article collection

A set of articles on the home, filled from a category or hand-picked, shown as cards or a list. It replaces the old pinned articles.

Show widgets at the right moment of the stay

On reservation links, each widget shows only during the stages you tick on its row: before arrival, arrival day, during the stay, checkout day and after the stay. Tap a stage to show or hide the widget at that moment.

You set when each stage starts once, for every property, in Settings › Reservations › Guest journey: when restricted content opens, when arrival day and checkout day start, and how long the after-stay stage lasts.

General and public links have no dates, so guests on those links see every widget that's on for them.

Check-in and issues starts with no stages ticked, so it doesn't show anywhere until you tick the stages you want.

Custom settings for one property

  1. Open the property and click the Widgets row.

  2. Click the widget you want to change.

  3. Turn on Custom settings for this property and change what you need. Your changes apply to this property only.

To go back to your defaults, turn the switch off. The property's custom settings for that widget are deleted.

Booking channel rules

On reservation links from the booking sources you mark as restricted in Settings › Reservations, Guest registration is turned off. Guest feedback and About your hosts also have a Follow OTA rules switch, on by default, that keeps contact details and your own review link away from those guests. See OTA compliance.
